Ugh, I have officially been having the worst few weeks, and not in a big disaster kind of way, just a thousand and one little problems and stresses all happening right on top of each other with no break in between kind of way. Very draining. Hi flist! *has missed you*
I've not been online much, hence a million comments/emails to catch up on, but I have been scribbling a bit here and there. Will be posting fic soon. (Yes, more Leverage team-yay, because STILL THE GREATEST THING EVER.) Also been getting a bit done for
thelittlebang, which is still intimidating the crap out of me, but I am managing to maintain a shred of optimism. (...Kind of?)
So
purimgifts happened! Belated post-reveal thing:
lyssie wrote for me! Susan Ivanova, Aeryn Sun, and Sophie/Parker/Maggie partners in crime awesome women gen fic omgwtf my red hot burning love for these fics, let me show you it.
I, meanwhile, wrote three SG1 fics, Carolyn Lam, Sam/Ishta/Jello, and Vala/Cassie - all in a gen capacity - for
prehistoric_sea.
I have to say, I completely loved this holiday exchange, both participating myself and reading the results. It was full of fun and glee and wonderful women and Jewish faith and tradition and yay. *cuddles*
( HIMYM this week made me squee so hard guys )
Now off to read flist. ?skip=wtf.

Today is Leverage day and there is no Leverage. D: Never got around to posting my squee for the final episode last week. So much squee, so little time.
My
purimgifts stuff is still in the final tweaking stage, but mostly ready to go. I think I still have till tomorrow morning? Anyway, I love my ficlets to an unreasonable degree. Yes, I am that modest. And I love this fic exchange and I can't WAIT to find out what some lovely person has done for me. *heart eyes*
Things you should click:
Here is an utterly fantastic Leverage/Pretender crossover ficlet that... okay I won't spoil it, just go and read it SO GREAT OMG. I want more.
Here is a flash game that I am so addicted to it is seriously dire, the likelihood of me ever being productive again.
Here is where you can sign on to make arts and vids and cheerlead and so on for
thelittlebang.
And now I have to go make pumpkin soup.

Gah! I was writing this whole thinky post about my place in femslash fandom and fandom in general and then I somehow accidentally posted it before it was even done and then I panicked and deleted it and now I have lost the WHOLE THING. I think I win the interwebs today. D:
Um. I... Oh, have some recs, instead, all from the porn battle:
She Doesn't Stand a Chance - Cuddy/House/Thirteen by
lauriestein
House threesome of Win!
But I'm *Not* a Cheerleader - Jennifer Garner/Ellen Page RPF by
selfinduced
The Juno RPF you never knew you desperately wanted.
Sodom and Gomorrah - Sarah Connor Chronicles, Jesse/Riley by
usagiko
Oh so messed up. Jesse is creepy intense and you know just why Riley wants her.
Percentages - Leverage, Parker/Sophie by
cinaed
My new pet fandom. So freaking adorable, these two.
Digging in the Dirt - The Good Life (Good Neighbours?) fic, Barbara/Tom by
carodee
Because I laughed so hard. Omg.

Happy New Year Flist! So, yuletide right?
I've been back from holiday for days now but I've been wallowing in yuletide and that's pretty much it. It's too freaking hot to do anything else. *wilts* Anything else like, say, writing those holiday gift fics I'm still totally going to get to. Just a bit later than I intended. Like when it's not so freaking hot.
Anyway, yuletide! I got two fantastic stories that I love to a ridiculous degree:
We Did Not Make Ourselves - Fantastic, fantastic Alien Resurrection fic. The movie is over but they still have to deal, and things aren't resolved and Call, as always, is the most human of them all.
You can see Ripley out of the corner of your eye, the long line of her back, the way her body meets the ground at odd angles.
"Ripley?" You say her name without thinking, soft and low.
Her whole body turns towards you, and as she moves you are reminded of a snake uncoiling. In the firelight her eyes appear to glow.
"What's the matter, kid?"
You swallow hard, feel suddenly ridiculous. "Do you dream, Ripley?"
She gives an odd laugh, and her teeth catch the light. For a second you wonder if you're still asleep.
"Yeah, just not my own."
GOD I LOVE IT SO MUCH.
Lily Blossoms - The fic I never in a million years expected. No one even offered to write this fandom except me! Best Student Council, a seriously obscure girl's school anime that is pretty much the silliest thing ever. Such a wonderful surprise, having this request filled, and it is exactly what I wanted! Nanaho is awkward and intense and prone to outbursts of flail, and Kuon handles the situation with her usual calm, collected, Evil Genius-ness. It is so freaking cute and I just love this pairing beyond all reason and they make out and it's FABULOUS.
Some other recs - not even close to representing all the fics I've loved this year. I've read so much but am very unorganised and failed to keep track of anything. Also, I haven't even gotten to some letters, and several of my favourite fandoms (Discworld, HIMYM, Futurama, etc) because I am going slow and savouring everything. I ♥ yuletide.
The Big Bang Theory - The Failure of Einstein's Universe - Hee! Because Penny/Sheldon is made of awesome and this fic is so well-written and clever and funny and will make you go 'yeah, this totally has to happen'. Plus, the fake boy/girlfriend trope is just about my favourite ever.
Blue Crush - Breathing Underwater - Because it's poignant and true - Eden and who she is and how that has everything to with Anne Marie. Gorgeous. God, I love these girls.
Little Women - Comfort and Joy - Because it upset me so much I had to go and read Mythbusters RPF just to stop sniffling.
Roswell - Samskara - Just, it's these kids, and their voices, and it's fun and I don't even hate Max and I want to go and watch that silly show all over again.
Mansfield Park - Love and Marriage - Ow. It's the way it could have happened but really shouldn't have. Wonderfully sympathetic to all involved and oh, Fanny.
There's like a hundred others but I can't think of them. Go me!
Also I still have a holiday ficathon story to write that is due tomorrow. So, you know, I'm just going to go read some more yuletide fic and maybe watch Leverage again.

Hi flist, just poking my head out from under my rock.
Have a rec. Sort of. Okay, more misery loves company, really, but does anyone want to read a really creepy manga comic?
The Enigma of Amigara Fault. (Remember, it's manga, so read the panels right to left.) It's short, only a few pages. No violence (not exactly), nothing sexual at all, just... disturbing.
I especially like how the title and art make it seem like it could be a Choose Your Own Adventure story.
Actually, when I read it yesterday I thought yes, wow that's creepy, but I didn't think it was that bad. And then I went to bed last night and I couldn't stop thinking about it. Just the thought of ( spoilers ) Gaaaaaaaaaaah!! *flails*
Eventually I had to turn the light back on and read until I could get to sleep. So. Creeped. Out.
Gah.

What Not to Wear.
*loves*
I got my story in and people have actually been reading it! Which, I wasn't sure what with the obscurity of the fandom. I mean, I wrote an obscure fandom last year too (the 4400) and pretty much no one read that. Or, well, maybe that story just sucked. Hee. But Alien Resurrection is an unbelievably girlslashy movie. Like, Sigourney Weaver and Winona Ryder spend pretty much every scene together touching each other in a highly suggestive fashion.
Also, it knocks the Bechdel test right out of the freaking water, since they spend half the movie talking, and the only time they even mention a man it's when Ripley is offering to pull some guy's tongue out and give it to Call as a gift. Or when Call tells Ripley not to kill the asshole scientist, and then punches him in the face on her behalf.
Plus, in the extended version of the film, with the different ending? They end up on Earth, sitting together talking about how they're totally going to shack up and be girlfriends now. ...Possibly not verbatim, but seriously. They do. It's awesome.

Vid recs:
First, from that fandom I am really not that into, honest (also know as Avatar: the Last Airbender): What it Feels Like For a Girl. Because I find it difficult to express how AWESOME the girls in this show are, but this vid goes a little way towards doing it.
Also: If the House/Cuddy Relationship Was a Hollywood Thriller. AHAHAHAHA. So much win. And actually a bit scary. Because House's stalker tendencies really are creepy, especially towards Cuddy.

Five things that are making me happy right now:
1. The explosion in House girlslash lately. Due, I think, to things like
housefemslash opening. And Thirteen bringing teh gay. Awesome.
2. My very own
queenzulu brand girlslash. Learning to Live in the World - Amber/13, NC17, spoilers for finale, lovely and sad and HOT.
3. Ficathons!
cuddy_fest round two is almost here. As is a little something else that should be all kinds of awesome. Speaking of awesome,
femslash08 is ALREADY here. As is
starwarsficfest - go find a Leia prompt and write me a drabble, plz.
4. That it is only the beginning of hiatus season, when all the ficathon deadlines are far off and not at all stressful or looming.
5. Finding a birthday present for my sister, and another for the ten-year-old to give her. God that woman is difficult to buy for.
Five things that are not making me happy right now:
1. That thing that happened in the House finale.
2. All my shows are over!
3. Chemo. It is le suck.
4. Winter.
5. Dropping out of multiverse. *fails* My writing has been sporadic of late, and just, it was a great prompt but I just had NOTHING. And I have other ficathon commitments and something had to go. And now I feel very, very guilty.

grey's anatomy remix fic just for me ftfw

Remixed for me: A Beginner's Guide to Mountaineering (Everest Remix), (original fic here.)
Olivia! And Izzie! And my mystery writer just brought it so hard with the added depth and awesomeness and I have so much love! Izzie/Olivia! Yay!
(And also, the original fic is probably my favourite piece of GA writing, so I am selfishly pleased on that count, too.)
It occurs to me that the story I wrote might just be really easy to spot. Like, ridiculously easy. As in 'sticking out like a sore thumb' easy. I'm just saying.

Recs:
First, Veronica Mars fic, Interlopers, written for me by
urban_folk_girl. It's Veronica/Jackie, hooking up in New York post-season two. This is a more mature version of the girls, unsettled by recent events, looking for and finding something with each other. Plus it's a pairing I've been dying to read forever so double yay.
Second, a BSG vid. I think someone on my flist recced this, I've no idea who, but I cannot stop watching it. And OMG. I'm not into vids overly much, but this is the kind that can make you appreciate just how frakking awesome they can be.

Yuletide is TORMENTING ME. I just want to sit and read forever and ever (which is how long it looks like it might take to get through it all) but for now, the lovely, gorgeous, awesome story written for me is Lay Me Down.
This was exactly the fic I wanted. Dead Like Me, with a George inured to her Reaper Life and a Reggie who's grown up, grown into herself, and still loves her sister. Guh. There's incesty bits too. Yay.
Quote:
"You would kiss your own sister?" George asked. How long had it been since she'd seen Reggie? Too long. Not since Reggie's last year of junior high when George had finally let her family go. As much as she could.
Reggie had grown into herself. Had changed like only time could change a person, but somewhere inside the new Reggie was an echo of the old Reggie. An echo that had stirred the feeling of familiarity within George.
"I might have," Reggie said, her back straight and her face set. George's sister wanted to freak her out.
George only smiled. "Maybe I would have kissed my sister, too, if I'd known her better."
" . . . you had a sister, too?"
"Yeah."
*is in ficlove*
A few more giftficlets should be along shortly. And I still haven't replied to anyone I should have replied to. Sorry!
Hope everyone's holidays have been lovely.

Everyone everywhere ever needs to go read this story right the hell now. It's fic for the new Bond flick Casino Royale - non-spoilery, though.
And it's Bond/M.
And if your response to that pairing is 'ew', then you seriously need to read this. It just turns on its head that conventional notion of sexuality, of what 'sexy' is and what it means to be an object of desire. And it has Judi Dench as a powerful, full-figured, post-menopausal woman who is like the hottest thing since hot on toast. No, really. This story was like an orgasm for my brain.
Seriously, now. I mean it: Queen of Spades by
